Senate Breakdown

    Democrats received 50% of all votes, but hold just 42% of seats in the Senate. Even though Democratic candidates represent almost 90k more voters than Republican candidates, they are the minority party in the Senate.

    Republicans received only 48.5% of all votes, but hold 56% of seats in the Senate. Despite winning a minority of the votes, Republicans hold 7 more seats in the Senate than the Democratic party.

    One seat is held by an Independent.
